Bug#341467: patch doesn't apply to 2.6.14

2005-11-30 Thread Holger Levsen
package: kernel-patch-vserver
version: 2.3

Hi,

The patches in this packages dont apply to linux-source-2.6.14 only up to
2.6.12 which isn't in the archive anymore. Upstream has not yet released a
patch for 2.6.14.

Workaround: build against 2.6.12:

  wget
http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/09/28/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-2.6_2.6.12-10.diff.gz

  wget
http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/09/28/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-2.6_2.6.12-10.dsc

  wget
http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/09/28/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-2.6_2.6.12.orig.tar.gz

BTW, I also had to remove the DEFAULT-line in ./drivers/scsi/qla2xxx/Kconfig
to successfully disable building this driver as it keeps failing to build...

regards,
Holger

Actually linux-source-2.6.12-10 is in testing, it has been removed from
unstable though.

There are patches for 2.6.14, they are 2.1 release candidates, but are
really stable. Upstream even considers them to be more stable than the
2.6.10 release 2.0. I have just finished porting these to apply to the
Debian version and will be uploading shortly.

This has nothing to do with vservers... the patch doesn't touch any
driver code.
