Bug#342361: savage: fails if savagefb is used in the kernel

2007-06-17 Thread Brice Goglin
Hi,

About 18 months ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding Xorg
with the Savage driver failing when savagefb is used in the kernel. Did
you reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest
xserver-xorg-core, driver and kernel in unstable?

There's an upstream bug which seems similar:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5878

Thanks,
Brice

Bug#342361: savage: fails if savagefb is used in the kernel

2005-12-07 Thread Pascal A. Dupuis
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11
Severity: normal

Hello,
after searching a lot, I finally found the the X.Org savage driver
doesn't mix well with the kernel savagefb, even with
Option UseFBDev true

Typical symptoms are that each text appears garbled at the top of the
screen. After a few 10s of second the machine hang. Running without
savagefb cure this.

Maybe this should be documented somewhere, during the installation
procedure ?

Best regards

Pascal Dupuis
