The fact that it is not even built on powerpc, is proof enough that there is no way that this module should be *NEEDED* in the ramdisk, as it works just fine without it. And this fact will not change with any number of random configurations you might or not build, so please fix this bug and be done with it. Jonas, ... As i told you in person, i don't suppose this is the right approach, the fix is really trivial, and i don't see any way (sane or otherwise) it could break something. The ide-generic module is not built on powerpc, so clearly it is not needed on top of via-ide, so making the line conditional on powerpc which adds ide-generic cannot break anything as you fear. Please include the patch to fix the issue, and in the unlikely case that upstreams has something negative to say about this fix, you can revert it. The other alternative is to remove the patch which caused the bug in the first place, as it is a much better candidate for a wrong-and-hacky fix, and Erik even said so if i remember well.
