the 'universalness' of this problem would appear to be debatable...
At the other extreme, I cannot reproduce it at all.
Any idea what you might be doing that I am not? This seems like
a 'local' problem to me -- you aren't even running a different
version of glib that what I am...
Some theme you are running, or a non-debian package perhaps?
(hmm, unless its an amd64 thing...)
Can anyone else reproduce this? Have you checked glib bug reports?

This happens with just a single wxApp with a single wxFrame, so it seems
quite universal.
