for some reason the files were removed from CVS upstream, yet shipped
with the 1.10.1 release tarballs. Therefore we've put 1.10.1.dfsg
without them. However, upstream reckons that they *will* be not shipping
with the next update (whenever that'll happen), so that's when we'll be
back with the real orig.tar.gz.

For now, the update (1.10.1.dfsg-1) is in incoming as it was uploaded
yesterday after dinstall time.

The RFC was removed from CVS head, but was accidentally re-introduced
during a recent CVS merge from a branch. It has been re-removed, and the
next snapshot package (which will occur shortly) will not have this file.

Bug#365176: [NONFREE-DOC] Package contains IETF RFC/I-D

2006-04-28 Thread Simon Josefsson
Package: libpt-doc
Severity: serious

Hi!

It seems your package contains non-free RFC/I-Ds:

usr/share/doc/libpt-doc/samples/xmpptest/draft-ietf-xmpp-core-22.txt.gz
usr/share/doc/libpt-doc/samples/xmpptest/draft-ietf-xmpp-im-21.txt.gz

The license on I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation

I believe the options are:

1) Remove the file from the package (which may include re-packaging
   the source code).

2) Move the files to a non-free package (which may also include
   re-packaging the source code).

If you disagree with this, because this bug is reported for several
packages at once, it seems better to discuss this on debian-legal, in
this thread:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.devel.legal/25993

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy
.

I'm sorry if this report is filed in error, I went over many packages
looking for suspicious filenames, and there may be false positives.

Thanks,
Simon

this was addressed upstream and will be resolved with the next update of
the Phobos release which might happen with Ekiga 2.0.2. If at that time
there will not be an update to pwlib, we'll upload a repackaged source
to fix this.

Thanks for pointing out.
