Bug#370223: angband: Upgrade woody-sarge has lost high-score file
Hi, The only thing that removes the high score file is purging the package -- so is it a possibility that angband was somehow purged? If not, I see no mechanism for the high scores file to have been removed. No, the package wasn't purged. I might even have a transcript of the upgrade somewhere... We moved the directories for FHS compliance, /var/lib/games/angband/apex - /var/games/angband/apex Hmm, the bit in the postinst that tries to save the old score file is buggy (and it has been a long time since we moved to the new location). I'll see what I can do. manoj -- Live and learn... Die and forget it all. tags 370223 +unreproducible thanks Hi, I installed the woody versi0on in a UML, and updgraded to the latest version, and the apex scores file was untouched. This is commensurate with the code; the packages do not contain the high scores file, so it is not overridden on upgrades, and nothing in the postinst does anything but touch the files. The only thing that removes the high score file is purging the package -- so is it a possibility that angband was somehow purged? If not, I see no mechanism for the high scores file to have been removed. manoj -- Be careful of reading health books, you might die of a misprint. Package: angband Version: 1:3.0.5-1 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Hi, I just upgraded my system from woody to sarge, and angband has forgotten all the previous high-scores (though my monster memory remains intact); there wasn't even a warning this was going to happen!
