No output because the machine hangs with nothing in the logs, it doesn't hang when I'm at the console. This happens under 2.6.15, .16 and .17 kernels. It never crashes when I halt/reboot from the GNOME Desktop menu, but always crashes when I log out. Otherwise, crashes are random with a half-life around 30-60 minutes. Sounds like this could be #366114. Indeed, sounds very similar, thanks. Funny thing is, I tried to reconfigure xserver-xorg to use the fbdev driver, but it seems to have left the Driver: ati in xorg.conf. It doesn't seem to take -- that is, xorg.conf doesn't reflect the changes I'm making in dpkg-reconfigure. How do I force it to use the fbdev driver? Bug#378265: xserver-xorg: Random X and system crash on Radeon Mobility M6 LY, Crusoe
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 7.0.22 Severity: important Greetings, My laptop, Fujitsu P2120 with Radeon Mobility M6 LY and Crusoe CPU, hangs while running xorg with the ati driver. This did not happen with 6.9.0, nor with xserver-xfree86-dbg (which the Crusoe CPU required, see bug 261251). It never crashes when I halt/reboot from the GNOME Desktop menu, but always crashes when I log out. Otherwise, crashes are random with a half-life around 30-60 minutes. Haven't tried the -dbg build. The fbdev driver has not crashed on me yet, and has passed the logout test.
