A workaround is there for dokuwiki. And it seems they tracked the
source of the problem to libpcre3

So maybe it would be useful to reassign this bug to libpcre3.

Quoting http://bugs.splitbrain.org/?do=detailsid=938, I had the
same problem (Debian testing and unstable), and I tracked it down to
the package libpcre3. Up to version 6.4 (libpcre3-6.4-2) it works
flawlessly. Upgrading to 6.7 (libpcre3-6.7-1) brings the problem.

Thus reassigning bug to libpcre3. Feel free to reassign if I was wrong.

Bug#392363: dokuwiki: Fails to save changes upon spam check

2006-10-11 Thread Marc Rousseau
Package: dokuwiki
Version: 0.0.20060309-5.1
Severity: important

Cannot modify or add content, throws multiple preg_match() errors from
common.php when clicking on save (see below).

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: repeated
subpattern is too long at offset 14466 in
/usr/share/dokuwiki/inc/common.php on line 391
-- Sniped -- (repeated once for each string in the spam list)

Seems like the spam check fails since some external libs were updated.
