Bug#393093: courier-imap: Fails to start, cannot reallocate
Richard Harb wrote: FYI: I had the same error message, leaving the courier-imap package 'unconfigured' after installation. Changing the value of IMAP_ULIMITD in /etc/courier/imapd to 131072 did the trick for me as well, and dpkg --configure -a could finish configuration. I will doublecheck this with the author of Courier. Will do! But, is there a real problem with going from 64-128kByte? There's 2GB in the box. Please read the configuration file and help ulimit in the shell. courier-imap shouldn't use up more than 128 MB on startup. How large are your courier-imap processes in general (top / ps). Did you use courier-imap before installing 4.1.1 ? On my old box: courier-imap 3.0.5.20040712-1 But this was the first courier on this hardware. Is the hardware and/or the courier-imap setup different ?
