Bug#396132: #396132: gtk-gnutella: stable upstream version is out
Hi again, I'm really sad that this matter didn't go to anywhere during this 4 months, even more, being the upstream source already debianized! :( I'll try to remark the main subject here: *The available version (even on sid) is _USELESS_ on gnutella network* Please, upload the current version on svn, 0.96.3. Thanks in advance, Dererk ps: I compiled it myself with no problems at all. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]: ~$ cat /proc/version | grep -i 'power in your hands' Debian GNUine Perception -FortuneTip- You are scrupulously honest, frank, and straightforward. Bug#396132:
In any case, 0.96.3 is out and is signifcantly more stable than the current offering. Stable enough for testing, rather than unstable. Why aren't recent gtk-gnutella packages being built and moved downstream? Torrance (gtk-gnutella user, on Debian Etch)

User gets notified when gtk-gnutella finds a newer version on the network, and program refuses to start if it's expired unless user configures it not to. I agree that updates through volatile are more apropriate. Regards, Thadeu Cascardo. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

No longer supported upstream or broken in functionality due to network changes? If it's the latter, we should remove gtk-gnutella from stable and support it through volatile.debian.org instead. Bug#396132: gtk-gnutella: stable upstream version is out
Package: gtk-gnutella Version: 0.96.1svn12109-1 Severity: serious Justification: none As described in gtk-gnutella FAQ, non-stable versions expire after 90 days, while old stable versions expire after a year. Since Debian stable versions take a long time to be released, I suggest releasing the stable version 0.96.2 for Etch. Besides, it's more recent than the current version on sid. There is a reason for this expire/ban after some time. The gnutella network is an evolving network and its stability depends on good servents around. I am considering this bug a serious one, so etch may be released with a stable gtk-gnutella version.
