Bug#398813: hangs on checking APT mirror
reassign 398813 choose-mirror thanks I don't think this issue can be in apt-setup as apt-setup does not use wget (except if the local generator is used, which AFAICT was not the case here). More likely the hang was in choose-mirror. wget by default has a 900 second read timeout. pgpmuMZ7U5Kpq.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#398813: hangs on checking APT mirror
Package: debian-installer Version: debian testing net install from around 2006.11.01 Severity: normal When I entered a manual APT server, and that server was offline, then installer hanged on scanning mirror. I checked on second console, the hanging process was wget morror-address I tried killing it but then installer respastarted it, and again and again. IMHO it should have a timeout and report error instead restarting wget. to give option to enter other, working address. Btw, IMHO at that time of installation commands like ping and perhaps ifconfig should be available to help setting up the mirror in LAN (if it needes manual network config) -- RafaĆ Maj www.Raf256.org C++ signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Anyway at least the timeout should be lower (like 60s max) and no loop, only going back and displaying warning, IMHO. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
