Bug#404936: Same problem here

2007-01-26 Thread Simon Josefsson
Hi! I began seeing the same problem a few weeks ago too. I have a HP
Photosmart 3310. It happens on all files. I downloaded the 'pstops'
mention in this bug report, but it did not fix the problem for me.
Both the new and old 'pstops' generate the same output (and the same
exit codes, 0) for the file I tried it on.

Symptoms are that printing doesn't work, even though lpq says:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lpq
PhotoSmart-3300 is ready
RankOwner Job File(s) Total Size
1st jas 1 Test Page 223232 bytes
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

The log contains:

mocca:/home/jas# cat /var/log/cups/error_log
E [26/Jan/2007:10:41:02 +0100] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [26/Jan/2007:10:41:24 +0100] [Job 1] /undefined in ESPwl
E [26/Jan/2007:10:41:24 +0100] PID 7228 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip)
stopped with status 3!
mocca:/home/jas#

And the GNOME printer admin tool says 'Status: Ready:
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed' which seems somewhat weird.

I can't find the old cupsys binary packages, so I can't try reverting
to the old version. Anyone have a backup of them for i386?

Any other ideas?

/Simon

You can find all the old packages on http://snapshot.debian.net .
for cupsys: http://snapshot.debian.net/package/cupsys
