I confirm that the bug is still there in "lenny" and that it is not
minor. We recently experienced an IPv6 outage and, during the problem,
our whois server was not available at all from IPv6-enabled Debian
machines:

% whois -h whois.nic.fr toto.fr 
Timeout.
