Well, it isn't because of unstable API (yes, I plan to change the API
quite significantly for the next release, but that's not the point).
The thing is that 0.0.8 version as now included in Debian is just
too buggy.
On the other hand, current 0.0.9 has all the known bugs fixed, together
with some (not all) limitations.
I think udns is great software and useful enough to deserve
distribution, although no other software in Debian depends on it yet.
Unless he says that he is OK in keeping it in Debian (he has not
answered my reply to him yet), I will request tomorrow the removal of
udns from Debian Etch. Perhaps, I will maintain it on experimental.
Well, if it's not yet too late for etch, I think you can release it
there if you really want.. ;) At least I'm not THAT ashamed by
0.0.9 as I was by 0.0.8 (at least not until more stupid bugs will
be discovered ;)
I think I owe you something. At least, I did the release, without
discussing everything I wanted to with you (that other email I didn't
reply to yet) - just because it happened that I had almost no time
to do anything and due to some umm.. pressure from various users
wanting to use the new code... ;)
OT: Hope we can meet sometime. I need to stop working and studying
this much and go back to hack a little more on Hurd. Please, keep
the good job you've done.
Eh, there's quite alot of people I'd like to meet with. Not that
it's easy to do in many cases...
