Bug#408385: linux-image-2.6.18-4-prep: installation fails with Missing utility in object directory
Its already in incoming since yesterday, not sure if i missed dinstall or not but supposedly they are two dinstall runs per day now, and if not, it will be in the archive this evening. In the meantime, look at incoming for it. Yes, mkvmlinuz 32 fixed it - can be closed. After some strace the culprit has surfaced: stat64(/usr/lib/linux-image-2.6.18-4-prep/utils/addnote, 0x7facd470) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) This was due to a small mistake from Aurelien Gerome, who is helping with the mkvmlinuz package. The situation should be cleared in mkvmlinuz 32, which i will upload now. Going back to mkvmlinuz 29 should work around the issue. addnote is a chrp thingy, which was erroneously required for prep installations, while mkprep is enough fro you. After some strace the culprit has surfaced: stat64(/usr/lib/linux-image-2.6.18-4-prep/utils/addnote, 0x7facd470) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) Exactly, I did not test *exhaustively* what I have done to fix #381787. There was more than meets the eye in that matter. Anyway, I modified the fix and *this time* I ensured that this is fine. This is will be fixed in -32 as soon as Sven also double-checks it. In the mean time, you can grab and rebuild it from the kernel SVN repository located at [1]. Cheers, [1] svn://svn.debian.org/svn/kernel/dists/trunk/utils/mkvmlinuz/ -- .''`.
