Bug#410327: jwhois hangs forever

2007-02-09 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Package: jwhois
Version: 3.2.3-4
Severity: important

Hi,

jwhois quite often hangs forever, e.g.

  jwhois -d 129.250.134.165

If this is a bug it should be fixed.
If this is not a bug, it definitely needs some kind of timeout.

regards

While I can't replicate that bug here, it's likely that this is caused
by the server not responding. In the current stable version of jwhois,
there is a problem with timeouts. This code has been entirely rewritten
and made more configurable in the CVS version. A new release of jwhois
is expected shortly, and hopefully it will appear in Debian not long
afterwards.
