Bug#427492: grub-efi: method to 'bless' ?
Hi, I had the unfortunate incident that MacBook HDD blew up while at Debconf, and without a Mac OS X installation disk, I could not set up refit, and I had to resort to PC compatibility mode. I didn't know about efibootmgr, it might be what I was looking for, but it doesn't seem to work with default lenny kernel that I have installed right now. hmmm Hi, efibootmgr can only be used when boot from efi, it's not available in bios boot mode. BTW, it seems the latest version of refit can be burned as a bootable CD, perhaps you can try that. I'm currently on an extended trip and not easy for me to check it out, and I'm not booting off EFI. Could someone with a working system confirm this? regards, junichi -- [EMAIL PROTECTED],debian.org} -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? He discovered that Debian has efibootmgr [0] and wanted even to look if GRUB can include something of it. Junichi, is this package what you want? For me it looks like that grub-efi should just recommend/suggest that efibootmgr package. Package: grub-efi grub-efi can be placed on the EFI partition, but MacBook firmware needs to be given intruction to load it. Is there any compatible tool to 'bless' (MacOS X) ? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is there any compatible tool to 'bless' (MacOS X) ? Not AFAIK. Perhaps this functionality is in refit ? Otherwise this requires reverse-engineering work. And unfortunately I can't do either since I don't have the hardware :-( -- Robert Millan My spam trap is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note: this address is only intended for spam harvesters.
