Hi,

This will be fix in next upload (ie may be tomorrow/today).

 Thanks !

Please
report its speed etc. And yes, .deb is reduced to half of size than
earlier ;)

Speed really should hardly change, unless you count startup speed
(and even then, it will load faster on a system already using
libxapian).

 Thanks again ;-) !

 Vincent

Perfect. Although, it might be better to tag it wontfix if you
don't intent to use shared libraries - so no one bothers you again (or
at least having read all of this).

At first, I was sure it was a policy violation not to link dynamically

on that point. Well, still, would you consider linking dynamically ??

As I said above, I will contact upstream and let the bug know. If
there is any good reason, I will close the bug, else we will need
solution. ok?

  Hello,
I've just installed recoll, and it seems to perfectly suit my needs,
many thanks for packaging it. However, I find rather funny that it uses
xapian but does not depend on any libxapian shared library... I understand
that the xapian library is statically linked, but wouldn't it be better
to link dynamically against it ? This would avoid a lot of code duplication
in the archive.

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for using recoll. Hope we can do 'Total Recall' someday ;) I
will talk to upstream about this. I think there must be good reason to
use it.

  Hello,

I've just installed recoll, and it seems to perfectly suit my needs,
many thanks for packaging it. However, I find rather funny that it uses
xapian but does not depend on any libxapian shared library... I understand
that the xapian library is statically linked, but wouldn't it be better

At first, I was sure it was a policy violation not to link dynamically
unless there is a good reason for doing so. However, I appear to be wrong

  Many thanks,
