Bug#428896: devscripts: please consider a mechanism to Cc: bug and/or -submitter

2007-06-14 Thread Justin Pryzby
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.4
Severity: wishlist

It might be interesting to include an option which Cc: either [EMAIL PROTECTED]
or [EMAIL PROTECTED] (or just do it automatically for wontfix perhaps
with some other analagous things or add an option for --dont-auto-cc).

See #341065 for some context.

During DebConf it was suggested to automatically show the contents of
emails to control@ if there are comments in the email. Don seemed
receptive to that, so the issue raised in the bug you referenced should
be addressed by that.

I'm not sure how useful it is to CC the submitter when there are no
comments included with the command. I could see having a "CC submitter
if there are comments" config option though.

This is #429649, which is fixed in devscripts' SVN.

I'm not averse to updating the patch to add an "also CC submitter on
comments" option if it would be useful. This would however be an "and"
rather than "and/or" choice. The patch for #429649 automatically CCs all
of the bugs manipulated if any command has an associated comment.

I was actually referring to a change in the BTS to show the contents of
control messages if there's a comment. This will be useful for people
looking through the bug logs where the maintainer doesn't use our next
devscripts version. :)

Ah, oops. :) Obviously I misread your e-mail, but that sounds good.

There are maintainers who don't use devscripts? :)
