Well, this leads me only to guessing that we should not trust such
statement, unless it was verified by the original reporter.

Okay .. but since 4 years, the original reporter didn't reply to this.
Couldn't this be a sign, that the problem decribed in the bug report was 
really fixed?
What I'm trying to say .. maybe both problems are not the same. :)
