Since Etch, mkelf-linux produces files that a thin client verified to work with older releases can no longer recognize. Additionally, LTSP developers pointed out that a number of patches were merged into the Ubuntu package that Debian could benefit from. Some of those patches fix this issue; they clearly remember having encountered a similarly broken mkelf-linux a few Ubuntu releases ago and patched it to make it work again. They suspect that LTSP fails to build usable ELF boot images on Etch because these patches were never merged back into Debian, or because the package was never rebuilt using a recent GCC immediately before the Etch release. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-486 Locale: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages mknbi depends on: ii perl 5.8.8-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction mknbi recommends no packages. - -- no debconf information -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFGnkyqeXr56x4Muc0RAsnaAKCLOl2m2r51Djw62tK0cYDFym9kAQCfWJsl 1lMT8+i7DSLbGxAKO2L8/h8= =OdVs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
