 laptop:~# xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1
X Error of failed request: 173
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 15 ()
Serial number of failed request: 16
Current serial number in output stream: 16

Is it better with 6.7.197 from unstable?

what did fn-f4 do? switch displays? The bios shouldn't be touching
the hw behind the driver's back. what you'll want to do is add a
script that gets run when the acpi event for fn-f4 comes in does the
proper thing (xrandr --auto or whatever).

 (2) closing the laptop's screen and opening it again, does not restore graphic

probably some bad bios interaction. Hopefully I can get that sorted
out in the coming weeks.

what version of xrandr are you using?

The biggest suspect are commits:

7afd04c1e4ffa6e4e5ba08ae90ba002237dc282b
905b19df33d6f912336b65895e97775ffec07728

More problems arised due to these.

IMO these should be reverted until someone have access to ATI docs (which may
happen soon) to properly fix
