Can't tell you how often I have looked at that GTK setup window and not seen the font button. Unless you would like to use this bug report to make that button more obvious, you can close this bug report as a silly question. Hi clayton, Thanks for reporting bugs about scim package. On Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 03:35:03PM +0800, clayton wrote: > > I also can see no way for me to change the font size in that window. Are you aware of the "scim-setup" program? It can be accessed from the system menus (in GNOME it's System -> Preferences -> SCIM Input Method Setup) or the SCIM tray icon (right click, choose "SCIM Setup"). In that program, in the Panel -> GTK page, at the bottom right corner, there is a button after "Font:". What does it show on you system? Press that button and choose the desired size. Does that change the candidate words' font for you? Ming 2007.09.26 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#444117: scim: Can't see Chinese characters clearly on 12-inch 1024x768
Package: scim Version: 1.4.7-1 Severity: normal SCIM is an outstanding piece of software, except for a little eye-strain I have a thinkpad X20 with a 12-inch 1024x768. When I use SCIM to enter simplified Chinese, I REALLY cannot see the characters in the tiny little character selector window (the one with the numbered list of characters) clearly. I also can see no way for me to change the font size in that window. For the record, I have another 14-inch 1024x768 thinkpad where visibility is better, but the characters are still smaller then I personally would like. Especially for us non-native Chinese users, it would be better to err on the side of a font that is too big then a font that is too small. If I could control it, I would make that character selector VERY big. -- Package-specific info: Related packages: ii libscim8c2a 1.4.7-1 library for SCIM platform ii scim1.4.7-1 smart common input method platform ii scim-gtk2-immod 1.4.7-1 GTK+2 input method module with SCIM as backend ii scim-modules-so 1.4.7-1 socket modules for SCIM platform ii scim-pinyin 0.5.0-3 smart pinyin IM engine for SCIM platform Related environment variables: [EMAIL PROTECTED] $GTK_IM_MODULE=scim Installed SCIM components: /usr/lib/scim-1.0: 1.4.0 scim-helper-launcher scim-helper-manager scim-launcher scim-panel-gtk /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0: Config Filter FrontEnd Helper IMEngine SetupUI /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/Config: simple.so socket.so /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/Filter: sctc.so /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/FrontEnd: socket.so x11.so /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/Helper: setup.so /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/IMEngine: pinyin.so rawcode.so socket.so /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/SetupUI: aaa-frontend-setup.so aaa-imengine-setup.so panel-gtk-setup.so pinyin-imengine-setup.so -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages scim depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.18.0-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.6.1-1+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.4.10-1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libfontconfig12.4.2-1.2 generic font configuration library ii libgcc1 1:4.2.1-4 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.14.0-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.10.13-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libpango1.0-0 1.18.1-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libscim8c2a 1.4.7-1library for SCIM platform ii libstdc++64.2.1-4The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.9-1 X cursor management library ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes31:4.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxi62:1.1.3-1 X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama1 1:1.0.2-1 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxrandr22:1.2.2-1 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.3-1 X Rendering Extension client libra Versions of packages scim recommends: pn im-switch (no description available) ii scim-gtk2-immodule1.4.7-1GTK+2 input method module with SCI -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
