( gah. two typin in From. sigh. )

Hi,

The bt shows hunspell so I built with internal hunspell and installed the new
packages and now I can open Diplomarbeit.odt from the original submitter
without OOo crashing.

This workaround will be in the next upload.

Hmm, scratch this. still happens. Seems it just worked by chance...

Will try something else related and come back to you...

load OK if spellchecking while typing is disabled.
I also realized that all documents where this bug occurs seem to be in
 german,
and in fact triggering german spell checking, either while typing or
 with
the dialog, immediately lets openoffice.org crash.

Can you re-try after installing libhyphen0 2.3.1-1 please (which I just

Bug#459943: Spell Checker

2008-02-18 Thread Heiner Markert
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:2.3.1-5

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I spent another 30 minutes on this issue and finally found that deleting the
file
~/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Linguistic.xcu
before starting openoffice helps to open the document. This file contains the
settings for the spell checker and hyphenator, and finally, the documents
load OK if spellchecking while typing is disabled.
I also realized that all documents where this bug occurs seem to be in german,
and in fact triggering german spell checking, either while typing or with
the dialog, immediately lets openoffice.org crash.

I think the bug should be moved to something spell-check/hunspell/german
related.

Best,
Heiner
