I cannot reproduce. Thanks for your help and persistence. It's your
honour to close the bug report, you deserved it! ;)

As ipython 0.9.1-2 is in unstable now I wanted to ask again if anyone
can reproduce this bug using 0.9.1-2.

If this bug cannot be reproduced anymore I would like to close this bug
report.

thanks

I wanted to check again if this bug can still be reproduced with ipython
0.9.1-1. Personally I still cannot reproduce it at all. Could you please
give it a try again and report back?

I am also marking the bug as not found in 0.9.1-1 for now, feel free to
change that if needed.

Stephan

2008-11-11 Thread Stephan Peijnik
Hello,

as uploading of ipython 0.9.1 to Debian is blocked until foolscap is
accepted (it's in the new queue right now) you might want to give the
packages of foolscap and ipython 0.9.1 I built a try.

If you want to give them a try have a look at http://archive.sp-its.at/
(my personal Debian package repository). I am using both for more than
two weeks now and haven't noticed any problems.

I am curious as to if you can also reproduce this problem with ipython
0.9.1.

Regards,

Stephan

OK, you are using 0.8.4-1 now I suppose. I guess we should wait for
further tests until 0.9.1 enters Debian, which should be rather sooner
than later. Thanks for the quick reply.

Stephan

I see the same behaviour here, thanks Piotr!

I can't, since I don't have such an installation and can't really
find the time right now.

I'v tried LC_ALL=C and unsetting all $LESS* variables, tried most
and less and more, and in all cases, I get the same escape
sequences. My setup is pretty standard, I use urxvt and my
xresources specify some fonts, but nothing terminal-related. I don't
override termcap.

I can reproduce the problem with gnome-terminal, rxvt, and xterm.

I am aware that this is unlikely an ipython bug, although I don't
see it anywhere else. Maybe someone has a pointer how I can find out
what's going wrong on my system? Seems like it should be
straight-forward.

Tested in several terminals now, and it always worked well for me.

Sounds more like a broken terminal (-setting...). Please give me the
exact steps to reproduce this, starting with a normal Debian installation.

2008-01-17 Thread martin f krafft
Package: ipython
Version: 0.8.2.dfsg-1
Severity: minor

If I type

  import os
  os?

then I get a pager where the top lists escape sequences:

  ESC[0;31mType: ESC[0mmodule
  ESC[0;31mBase Class:ESC[0m
  ESC[0;31mString Form:ESC[0m
  ESC[0;31mNamespace: ESC[0mInteractive

  ESC[0;31mDocstring:
ESC[0mOS routines for Mac, DOS, NT, or Posix depending on what system
we're on.

These should probably be interpreted and not echoed verbatim.
