I added -DDEF_POINTER_MODE=pNever in CFLAGS (the change is in
debian/rules, which is probably why you didn't see it).

Well, I noticed the same problems as described in this bug report
with a few earlier versions of xterm. With 232-1, pointer-hiding
is really disabled by default. So, I re-enabled it in my resource
file, and I no longer see the described problems.

yes - the flickering wasn't apparent with the normal way I run xterm,
but once someone pointed it out, it was apparent.  #232 should be okay
for that.  I expect to put out #233 this weekend - have a couple
of bug-fixes for other issues.
