That wasn't the case in 1.2, AFAIK. It's logical enough, fine, but
the change breaks my keybindings, and I'd rather have the keys to
myself. I also don't see any mention of this in the man page or FAQ
file or anything; if it's documented, can you show me where?

README doesn't seem to have anything about that... oh, you meant
README.Debian. Okay. It would be nice if the man page said something
about that too. Looking more closely, I see references to the "next
release of Xorg (7.2)", so I guess it's just slightly out of date.

Bug#463078: g15daemon: LCD keys do not appear to be reported to X

2008-01-29 Thread Giacomo Catenazzi
I think it is the expected behaviour:
the L keys are used to control the display: change client, and client
specific behaviours (clock display mode on default client).
So the key is used in g15deamon and thus it is not exported.

BTW you don't need Xmodmap file. See the README file, to see
how to configure xorg to use g15daemon keys.

Bug#463078: g15daemon: LCD keys do not appear to be reported to X

2008-01-29 Thread Drake Wilson
Package: g15daemon
Version: 1.9.1.0.svn346-1
Severity: normal

With g15daemon running and (I think) the appropriate xmodmap
incantations, it seems like the G and M keys on the left side of the
G15 keyboard attached are reported to X, but the L keys (near the LCD,
or what would be the LCD if the one on this keyboard were functioning)
aren't reported. A previously locally installed version of g15daemon
(I think 1.2.7) reported them fine, so I doubt it's a hardware
problem. xev shows no keyboard events when I push any of the four
skinny buttons or the round button in the LCD region.

Xmodmap file is attached, FWIW.
