Bug#466151: ipmasq: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script
[Guido Günther] i'm actually about to ask for its removal, now that i've completely switched to vuurmuur. Great. Please do so quickly, as this is one of the two remaining packages in debian unable to handle dependency based boot sequencing. Bug#466151: ipmasq: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script
Hi. This package is one of five packages in unstable missing the init.d dependency information. Do you have any view on how it could get it, preferably in time for Lenny as support for dependency based boot sequencing is a release goal for Lenny? Bug#466151: ipmasq: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script
Package: ipmasq Version: 4.0.8-1 User: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Usertags: missing-dependency To be able to check boot script order, and also to be able to start boot scripts in parallel, it is important to know the dependencies of the various boot scripts. The Linux Software Base specifies a init.d header file format useful for this purpose, and adding such header to the anacron init.d script would make it possible for me to use this information to check the current sequence and to speed up the debian boot. I am working on a system to update the boot sequence based on these dependencies, and would like see this as the default in Lenny. Because of this, it is nice if the dependencies was updated quickly. URL:http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_2.1.0/LSB-generic/LSB-generic/initscrcomconv.html documents the LSB header format. Some debian notes are available from URL:http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts. As the ipmasq package is using the same script inserted in different positions in the boot sequence, I am unable to provide a trivial patch to fix this. Adding support will require rewriting how the init.d script is handled. Happy hacking, -- Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
