With plain. But as said the path is already transformed to UTF8 in the
1.4.8 version as compared to the 1.4.7 that used latin1...

Well I upgraded the firmware of the device this morning, and now it
seems to work with or without the LANG setting???

Close the bug for now. I keep your mail. If I manage to reproduce a
problem with the new firmware, I wil try the LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 trick...

Have a nice sunday

Now try under UTF-8 locale. Generate it with `dpkg-reconfigure locales', then
run (if it's the right name):

$ LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 amarok

and try again.

Code is already there as if the patch has already been applied but does
not work for me.

So the part of the bug mentioning the patch should be removed but the
bug is there. I checked that I can the key points are the name of the
files and that they shall not contain accented character...

The patch does not look good to me. What if locale is not UTF8? Anyway, I'm
not going to do any amarok upload until 1.4.8-2 reaches testing which may
take up to two weeks or even more. It would be great if you somehow could
test if the patch works with non-UTF8 locales.

My locales are not UTF8 but french. This is just that we should do
correct conversion with non latin1 character in song titles title like
éèç that are very common in french songs. Put such a character in a song
title and try to transfer it on a MTP device. UTF8 is usually a much
better alternative than hardcoded latin1. The traget device has no such
locales thing.
