Bug#476930: compiz: quanta crashes X
I reassigned this bug back to compiz, since I can confirm it on my Intel 915GM as well as on my Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS one. The bug seems to be reported all over the net from users of OpenSUSE, Fedore, Ubuntu, against Fusion-Dev as well as in general Linux Forums. A thorough bug report that links together this bug with the Fusion-Dev and Ubuntu entries can be found here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/243708 Please take a moment to confirm that the bugs are relevant to each other. Bug#476930: compiz: quanta crashes X
Hi again. I've setup an identical config on another machine, also with Nvida (but a different card, GeForce 8400 GS), and I don't have some of the problems I've reported before (discolored title bars, quanta crashing X). This leads me to believe that the proprietary nvidia driver is buggy for my older driver, and it isn't in fact a compiz or X problem, specifically. Should I report the bug to NVidia instead? If so, do you have an e-mail address I should use? Thanks, David. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You can get a minimal one at the end of the log after the crash (in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old if X already restarted since then). Better would be to install xserver-xorg-core-dbg, login from another machine through ssh, attach gdb to the X server with gdb -p $(pidof X), reproduce the crash, enter 'bt full' and send us the output. However, since you seem to be using the nvidia binary driver, it si very likely that any above backtraces will be empty. In this case, we won't be able to do anything about this bug unless you reproduce it with a free driver and provide us with a backtrace. When I switch to Kwin (with fusion-icon) it no longer crashes. I've attached the log you requested. David. 476930.log Description: Binary data
