Bug#495691: do not log malformed qdomains

2008-08-22 Thread Stefan Schmidt
http://doc.powerdns.com/performance-settings.html
reads Logging truly kills performance as answering a question from the cache
is an order of magnitude less work than logging a line about it. Busy sites
will prefer to turn log-dns-details and log-failed-updates off.

Have you tried setting those to off?

log-dns-details=no
log-failed-updates=no

Bug#495691: do not log malformed qdomains

2008-08-19 Thread martin f krafft
Package: pdns-server
Version: 2.9.21.1-1
Severity: normal

Recently, I've been flooded with stuff like:

  pdns[18617]: Received a malformed qdomain from 145.253.2.134,
  ' a.ntp.madduck.net': sending servfail

I sometimes get thousands of those per hour and that fills up the
logs with cruft. I don't think it's worth logging this event and
would appreciate if pdns didn't.
