Bug#495890: widelands: multiple mine upgrades leave you without master miner

2012-05-06 Thread Goswin von Brederlow

Followup-For: Bug #495890

Hi,

this bug applies to any building that needs an experienced worker. For
another example when building a Metalworks while upgrading a Axfactory
to a Warmill the Metalworks can steal the Masterblacksmith.

In military buildings one has the option to send out soldiers to
replace them with different ones. Why not allow workers to be send
home too?

This would also help if one has for example too many woodcutter huts
but not enough woodcutter. One could send out a woodcutter from a hut
that is less than efficient and give the forrester a chance to rebuild
the forest without having to destroy the woodcutter hut.

A even better solution to the experienced worker problem would be if
workers would automatically trade up if a sufficient replacement is
available. An ax or miner in a warehouse makes a miner available. A
chief or master miner in a mine would be available if a miner is
available to replace it. A master miner in a deep mine would be
available if a chief miner is available and a chief miner in the
second slot of a deep mine would be available if a miner is
available and so on. So when a deeper mine needs a master miner and
none is available in a warehouse then it would take an available
master minder from another mine and that mine would get an available
(chief) miner as replacement.

Bug#495890: widelands: multiple mine upgrades leave you without master miner

2008-08-21 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: widelands
Version: 1:12-3
Severity: normal

Hi!

When upgrading a mine to a deep mine it requires a master miner and a
regular one. When upgrading two mines at the same time the one that gets
finished first gets send the master miners of both former regular mines
- leaving the second finishing upgrade without a master miner.

Either just send one master miner and a regular to a new deep mine, or
make it possible to exchange one of the two master miners with a regular
one (which might be a good approach in general, when one wants to
educate people - like e.g. in a tavern to exchange an innkeeper with a
regular worker there, too).

 Thanks,
Rhonda
