Bug#497385: This bug is still present
Package: flashplugin-nonfree Version: 1:1.7.2 Hi maintainer, I've put below some logs where we can see the difference between 1.7.2 and 1.7.1+1.6.3 versions. I believe the reason is lack of npwrapper.libflashplayer.so file on 1.7.2 version. ### logs of 1.7.1+1.6.3 version ### ~$ sudo update-flashplugin-nonfree --verbose --install options : --verbose --install -- temporary directory: /tmp/flashplugin-nonfree.jjzhluweXB selected action = --install wgetoptions= -P . -v --progress=dot:default downloading http://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/md5.pgp.asc ... --2008-09-04 08:21:29-- http://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/md5.pgp.asc Resolving people.debian.org... 192.25.206.10 Connecting to people.debian.org|192.25.206.10|:80... connected. The plugin is still a 32-bit plugin, which doesn't work with Iceweasel on amd64. The subject of the alternative needs to be a 64-bit plugin using nspluginwrapper. I really think that the problem reported on bug 497385 is solved in version 1:1.7.2. I tested this on amd64 and on i386. With 1:1.7.2, the plugin in the alternative is a 32-bit plugin. On amd64, Iceweasel is 64-bit, and you can't dlopen(3) a 32-bit plugin. With 1:1.7.1+1.6.3, /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so is a 32-bit plugin, but that doesn't matter, since npwrapper.libflashplayer.so is 64-bit. The latter isn't present with 1:1.7.2. See below for an installation with 1:1.7.1+1.6.3. Maybe you have an old version of swfdec-mozilla ? I don't have swfdec-mozilla installed. lakeview ok % file /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/*.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/librhythmbox-itms-detection-plugin.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-basic-plugin.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-complex-plugin.so:ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so:ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-mully-plugin.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so:ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, stripped -- brian m. carlson / brian with sandals: Houston, Texas, US +1 713 440 7475 | http://crustytoothpaste.ath.cx/~bmc | My opinion only troff on top of XML: http://crustytoothpaste.ath.cx/~bmc/code/thwack OpenPGP: RSA v4 4096b 88AC E9B2 9196 305B A994 7552 F1BA 225C 0223 B187 signature.asc Description: Digital signature
