Bug#497385: This bug is still present

2008-09-04 Thread Marcelo Santana
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:1.7.2

Hi maintainer,

I've put below some logs where we can see the difference between
1.7.2 and 1.7.1+1.6.3 versions. I believe the reason is lack of
npwrapper.libflashplayer.so file on 1.7.2 version.

I really think that the problem reported on bug 497385 is solved in
version 1:1.7.2. I tested this on amd64 and on i386.

With 1:1.7.2, the plugin in the alternative is a 32-bit plugin. On
amd64, Iceweasel is 64-bit, and you can't dlopen(3) a 32-bit plugin.
With 1:1.7.1+1.6.3, /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so is a
32-bit plugin, but that doesn't matter, since
npwrapper.libflashplayer.so is 64-bit. The latter isn't present with
1:1.7.2. See below for an installation with 1:1.7.1+1.6.3.

Maybe you have an old version of swfdec-mozilla ?

I don't have swfdec-mozilla installed.

Version 1.7.2 still has this problem, where 1.6.3 did not. The plugin
is still a 32-bit plugin, which doesn't work with Iceweasel on amd64.
The subject of the alternative needs to be a 64-bit plugin using
nspluginwrapper.
