Bug#498917: uswsusp: hibernate de-formats swap partition

2011-08-17 Thread Heretik
 Hi,

this bug is too old and I cannot reproduce it. Please, somebody
continues with the problem using the version 1.0 (unstable)?
 Can we close the bug?

Hi, I filed this bug but I don't use uswsusp anymore so I cannot reproduce
it. I guessed you can close this bug.

 Package: uswsusp

 Justification: renders package unusable

The bug only affects version 0.8-1.1 and not 0.7-1.2 and it is independent
from the kernel version. During hibernation (s2disk), the swap partition
 is
sort of de-formatted. At the next reboot the swap partition is no longer
recognized and the system does not wake up. Moreover, it is now necessary
to mkswap the partition in order to swap-on it again.

The swap partition is used to store the system state during hibernation,
that is why it is `de-formatter' as you call it. In case of a failed
resume from hibernation mkswap should recognise that and `reformat' the
swap-partition. So it seems that already something went wrong in the going
down phase. Did you get any error messages during s2disk?

grts Tim

Bug#498917: uswsusp: hibernate de-formats swap partition

2008-09-22 Thread Heretik
While this bug isn't fixed, he's a short local fix for people who
encounter this bug (thanks to Claudio's description of the bug) :

1) Install uswsusp 0.7-1.2 from testing
2) # mkswap /dev/xxx (where xxx is your swap device identifier, found in
/etc/fstab)
3) # swapon -a

Tested and works.
