d-i does not distribute non-free software.

But... d-i allows you to load firmware [1].

 which was annoying (but not critical as I was expecting it and had wired
 network prepared). Also, even if wireless would have worked, only WEP
 support would not have been sufficient (WPA or WPA2 PSK at least would
 be required for feature to be useful).
 
 Grub menu does not include Lenny system installed on other partition
 on the machine (even though the installer said Found other system ...
 Debian 5.0.6)
