Bug#508634: Further diagnosis
Earlier, I indentified that the problem was these lines in okularrc: [MainWindow] Height 1050=1050 Width 1400=1400 There was the remaining question where these lines came from. If I open okular, maximize the window using my window manager (metacity), and then quit, these lines (causing the earlier-mentioned bug) come back. I have some further diagnosis and a workaround: when the bug is manifested, the file .kde4/share/config/okularrc contains these lines: [Desktop Entry] FullScreen=true ... [MainWindow] Height 1050=1050 Height 1200=1201 MenuBar=Disabled State=/wD9BXgAAAQaBAQICPwBAgEWAG0AYQBpAG4AVABvAG8AbABCAGEAcgAFeAAA Width 1400=1400 Width 1600=1601 (My normal screen is 1400x1050. I sometimes use a 1600x1200 screen, although I haven't used that screen since I started using okular, so I'm not sure where those lines came from, except maybe a kpdf installation.) Changing this to [Desktop Entry] FullScreen=false ... [MainWindow] Height 1050=965 Height 1200=1000 State=/wD9BRQAAAOoBAQICPwBAgEWAG0AYQBpAG4AVABvAG8AbABCAGEAcgAFeAAA Width 1400=1300 Width 1600=1500 makes the bug disappear.
