It should, yes. I added that hack to monitor the build process on slow
arches (where compiling the parser with -O3 could take hours).

However, that problem is harmless: it doesn't cause any change in the
build result.

I noticed the hppa buildd log has a lot of these messages:
 /bin/sh: line 2: ps: command not found

Should ruby1.9 build-dep on procps?
