Though openoffice.org does (due to the symbols stuff) not depend on it anymore directly although it does -lcolamd for safety, it depends on lp-solve (liblpsolve55.so) which depends on it... Okay, since both the Ubuntu maintainer and the Debian OpenOffice Team think it is appropriate, I will integrate the Ubuntu patch. I think it's wortwhile to split it our to not force lp-solve users install loads of stuff (fortran..) the might not need. Maybe it would even make sense to put every lib in an own package but that *might* be overhead - your choice :) Yes, it would be a big overhead, IMO. Let us just split colamd for now. Package: suitesparse Version: 1:3.2.0-1 libcolamd should be split out since OpenOffice.org uses it to help reduce install footprint. I maintain OOo in Ubuntu and have made this change in Ubuntu already, but after talking to Rene, the Debian OpenOffice.org maintainer, he would like to see this changed in Debian as well. I believe that a split-up patch should show up at the following URL later today: http://patches.ubuntu.com/s/suitesparse/ It should also be available here as a debdiff: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21728308/suitesparse_1%3A3.2.0-1_1% 3A3.2.0-1ubuntu1.diff.gz It is possible that my changes are not the optimal way to do it. If so please feel free to implement it however you see fit and when Ubuntu syncs to Debian again we will take your changes over our own.
