Uhm. You are right, and I totally failed to notice it was Andrea’s name
in the changelog and not yours. Sorry about that!

Yes, of course it is.

Andrea, I took a look at the package. I would like to suggest that you
split the personal-details plugin to a separate package, because I don’t
think it’s reasonable for a GTK+ tool like giggle to depend on Evolution.

Another option would be to demote the dependencies of the plugin from
Depends to Recommends or Suggests. I’ve tested the application and it
seems to work just fine with trying to load the plugin but failing
because the required libraries are not in place.

If you do either of those (I think I prefer the second one, unless there
can be any problems with it), I can look into uploading your package.

Thanks!

No matter: the package available in Debian's mentors system is made by
Andrea. Andrea seems to not have many time for giggle actually. So I
decided to advertise as much as possible. In this process, I described
the way to use the current package made by Andrea (waiting for a
sponsor).

I hope this is correct/acceptable, even if I'm not (officialy)
identified as Debian Maintainer.

2009-04-13 Thread Adeodato Simó
Hello, Guilhem. Thanks for your interest on providing updated giggle
packages! Unfortunately, you don’t seem to seem to be the current
maintainer of giggle in Debian, and you don’t mention whether you’ve
contacted him or have his approval about this update.

I’m CC'ing him now, Andrea Corradi. I’d love to see an updated giggle
package in Debian, and could help with sponsoring, at least for this
time.

Andrea, were you aware of these changes in giggle development (move to
gnome.org, new upstream maintainer, etc.), and were planning on preparing
and update yourself? Do you think you’ll be able to do that on the near
future, and/or what do you think of getting Guilhem to help with the
package maintenance?

Thanks both for your work in Debian!

giggle 0.4.91-1 is available on mentors.debian.net

To test it, you have to download the three files then:
dpkg-source -x giggle_0.4.91-1.dsc
cd giggle-0.4.91
dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us -b
