Bug#519493: sylpheed: jpilot link is broken

2009-07-17 Thread Ludovic Rousseau

Hello gpe92,

I have no news about your bug report since 3 months.
A new version of pilot-link has been uploaded since then. Can you try it
and tell me if the bug is still present and if yes how to reproduce it.

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for the late but I'm very busy currently.
I try to answer to you as soon as possible (later at the begin of next week).

Bonjour gpe92,

I have no news since one week. I don't know how to reproduce this bug.
Should I just close the bug?

Hello,

I am the Debian maintainer of pilot-link and jpilot.

I do not use sylpheed so I have no idea of what should work and how it
should work.

Can you describe your bug report in details using the following format:

Steps to Reproduce:
In numbered format, detail the exact steps taken to produce the bug.

Expected Results:
Describe what you expected to happen when you executed the steps above.

Actual Results:
Explain what actually occurred when steps above were executed.

Regression:
Describe circumstances where the problem occurs or does not occur, such
as software versions and/or hardware configurations.

Notes:
Provide additional information, such as references to related problems,
workarounds and relevant attachments.

Thanks a lot

(I believe both use the same library to access jpilot: libpisock9).

Same problem with claws-mail.

Thanks for checking. This looks like a library issue, so I'm
reassigning to the library package.
But I think this may be more a upstream problem than a packaging one,
so I'd say it will end on pilot-link's bug tracker.

I've made more test and it seems that the problem is around
AddressDB.pdb and
ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb. With the first one it works but not with the
second one.

Well, I didn't say it wasn't clear, but do you think that somebody
can fix it just by having read your bug report?

I don't know if you can fix it but everyone which has a palm can verify
that its broken (the information are not displayed and not usable).

 Thanks, enough for now.

Maybe it's obvious to you, but without having the hardware myself to
test, saying it's broken gives me the same info about your problem
as if you had told me the sky is blue.

If you don't have the hardware it will be hard to test it effectively! You
need almost the contact pdb file but I don't know how to provide a sample
  to you.

Yep, this is true, it will be hard, but you have it, and mail too, not
 impossible ;-)

Yes but it contains very personal data which are not shareable.

I was referring to the hardware, no intention you have to disclose
your data, just you could make tests and mail me the result back
wether it went right or wrong, but not the data :-)

Just for fun: have you tested with claws-mail (which supposedly also
supports jpilot) and see what happens?

No, I don't try with claws-mail. I'll try it as soon as possible.

Thanks! We'll see if it's just a sylpheed bug or maybe something worse
