Bug#524607: xserver-xorg: Ctrl+Alt+F1 kills X rather to switch to console

2009-04-18 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+18
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

The probles is exactly as described in the subject:
X is killed by the sequence Ctrl+Alt+Fn whichever n.

This also affects hibernate becasue when hibernate wants to switch to
console while freezing the status, X is killed, login manager restarted
and then hibernate hangs.

The testing version does not displey this bug.

The reason for tagging as critical this bug comes from the fact that if
one relies on the expected behaviour user data in open X application get
lost when switching to console or hibernating.
