Bug#526443: [uscan] repack should be a valid argument in the opts line in debian/watch

2015-05-28 Thread Graham Inggs

Hi

I would also like to see a repack option in the watch file, and would
like to be able to set xz compression there too.

It would eliminate many get-orig-source manual targets from debian/rules
that exist only to force a repack or set the compression.

Regards
Graham

What about putting USCAN_REPACK=yes in your ~/.devscripts?

From the description this doesn't sound like a solution: it says, it
repacks also bzip2 archives, although these are valid tarball formats
for dpkg. So is this parameter description wrong? If yes, when does it
work?

I want a parameter that works on a case-by-case base, not something that
always does a repack. And given the fact, that pasv is also a valid
opts line parameter, it would be logical to allow repack here too. Ditto
for the compression=... parameter.

I would like to request, that the watch format 4 should supports
repack in the opts line, so people are not forced to use it on the
command line to get a .orig tarball. Any objections here?
