Bug#527121: printer-applet: error message client-error-bad-request pops up on every startup

2010-05-03 Thread Stefan Seide
After updating to KDE 4.4 i was able to reinstall printer-applet 4:4.4.3-1

Printer-applet does not produce any error messageboxes on startup and it seems
to work now. CUPS does not log any error messages too.

Thanks,
Stefan Seide

Bug#527121: printer-applet: error message client-error-bad-request pops up on every startup

2010-03-21 Thread Eckhart Wörner
i cannot update to python-sip4 4.10 because dependency on python-kde4
 4.3.4-1+b1 that depends on
 python-sip4 ( none+~ ) AND
 python-sip4 ( = none) (NOT AVAILABLE)

That's http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=574815 - it seems I'm
out of luck with the real bug report for now. :-(

Thank you for your help so far. :-)

Hi,

every time i am logging in or starting printer-applet manually from console
it crashes with signal 11 (segmentation fault)

you probably got bitten by http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-

probably - but i cannot really test the new version.

i had the older
python-sip4 4.9-x
python-qt4 4.6-x
python-kde4 4.3.4-1

i cannot update to python-sip4 4.10 because dependency on python-kde4
4.3.4-1+b1 that depends on
python-sip4 ( none+~ ) AND
python-sip4 ( = none) (NOT AVAILABLE)

The two dependencies together cannot be fullfilled (at least aptitude says
so). Uninstalling python-kde4 i was able to upgrade python-sip4 to 4.10-2 but
cannot install printer-applet now, because it depends on the uninstallable
python-kde4 ...

regards,
Stefan

Hi,

you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=527121 some time
ago. If the bug was caused by the error in hplip locale handling it should
have gone away with versions ≥ 3.9.2. Can you please test this is indeed the
case?

Bug#527121: printer-applet: error message client-error-bad-request pops up on every startup

2009-05-30 Thread Brendon Higgins
Package: printer-applet
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I'm seeing the same problem every time I log in, only in English. :-) I'm using
a UTF-8 locale, AFAICT, so I don't think it's that. I have seen some strange
lines in /var/log/cups/error_log:
E [30/May/2009:21:11:41 +1000] Bad request line ^V^C^A from localhost!
for example (the ^V^C^A appear to be actual escape codes; I had to view the
file in less to see what they were).

Note that I'm quite sure I've only seen this come up after CUPS in testing
upgraded from 1.3.8 to 1.3.10; IIRC there was no problem before that. Of
course, it's possible that 1.3.8 just errored silently.

Peace,
Brendon

2009-05-05 Thread Stefan Seide
Package: printer-applet

the following error message is shown on every login:

CUPS Serverfehler
Bei der Operation client-error-bad-request trat in CUPS ein Fehler auf.

CUPS starts up normally, the printer is connected through ethernet,
but is not online most of the time. Turning the printer on printing is
possible without any errors.

Other persons seems to have the same problem:
