This bug has also been reported upstream: Issue 7 - alternative filename storage for very long filenames https://github.com/vgough/encfs/issues/7 So I guess this ticket can be tagged "upstream" or "forwarded-to" or something like that? The upstream ticket is much younger than this bug, BTW - so Debian users apparently saw the problem first :-).
