I agree that this should be in depends.

Sandro, I just saw that you are not member of the pkg-boinc project.
I think Daniel and Rene agree that it would be great to welcome you
with us.

If there is nobody speaking against it, then I'll now add the util-linux
dependency.

Best,

Steffen

but it's there no more:

$ apt-cache show boinc-client  | egrep "^Version|schedtool"
Version: 6.10.58+dfsg-2

which is fine, because it was replaced by chrt. But, and a big but,
util-linux is not mentioned in the pkg relationships of the package:

$ apt-cache show boinc-client  | egrep "^Version|util-linux"
Version: 6.10.58+dfsg-2

util-linux contains chrt and ionice; at least it deserves to be in
Recommends, but given it's purpose is to make boinc be more "polite"
on the users machine, also a Depends might do. boinc-client can work
also without them, so I don't raise the severity, but please address
it soon.

Well, either you are preparing a stable update (and given we're
already in squeeze freeze and this bug is old, is it worth?) or you
can simply close this bug when you upload the correct package in
unstable.

Thanks & Regards,

I'm putting the bug as not found on the newest version of the package from
testing/sid.

I actually remember that I made the upload when schedtool was promoted
to recommends.

But AFAICS Tomasz is reporting this on stable version,
IIRC there schedtool is still on Suggest on that version.

Bug#537458: boinc-client: Broken dependencies. /init.d script requires schedtool and ionice.

2009-07-18 Thread Steffen Moeller
Hi Tomasz,

thank you for your report, I confirm the need to promote the dependency
on schedtool, without which boinc-client won't start, indeed.

I have no idea about ionice, which is not "apt-cache search"able on my
Debian sid system.

Cheers,

Steffen

boinc-client borken dependecies. This package /init.d script
