I am using kde4, sid, i386 and amd64 and radeon dri on my mobile x1250 and

If I start tmw windows and have got it in the foreground, my whole display
 begins to flicker,
not only the game window. If I start it in fullscreen it seems to be quite
 better, but not
 perfect.

Have you tried disabling kwin GL compositing? DRI1 with a compositing
manager has never been a good combination.

 It is permament disabled here.

Does:
Option DisplayPriority HIGH
in the device section of your config help? You need to use
xf86-video-ati git master for this option to have an affect on your
chipsets.

Any chance, that you guys package it for experimental?

Okay now I tested it on my amd64 sid workstation, which has got a x1650
pro, also KDE4, but here it works fine.

So it seems to be realy a radeon issue, but I am downgrading to normal.

We currently have Xserver 1.7 in experimental, so I am not sure whether
a ati package in experimental should be built against the Xserver from
testing/unstable (1.6) or experimental (1.7).

That said, you should be able to build a package using
http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/10936.html
