:-) Great that you were searching! Mistakes happen :)

fair enough, though i'd suggest that a reasonably large percentage of
debian-based computers that run munin-node do have some sort of hard
 drive these days ;)

flash drives and virtual machines dont.

Would you accept a rewrite of smart_ in perl or shell if someone was
able to carve out the time to do it (no promises!)?

sure. though I'd recommend to submit it upstream :-)

Thanks again for keeping munin in good shape.

:-)

regards,
Holger

Hi Daniel,

thanks for your bugreport!

right, thats 539886, 543944, 545991 and will be fixed in the next upload.

, or the package itself should at
least move python from Suggests: to Recommends: as it is expected for
use in most installations of munin-node.

python is only used by one of the hundred plugins in the munin-node package
and not all systems use hard drives, so I think a suggest is just fine here.
recommends are installed per default nowadays...

Thanks for packaging munin-node for debian!

:-)

Holger

2009-10-15 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Package: munin-node
Version: 1.2.6-10~lenny1

munin-node normally does autoconfiguration of its plugins after package
installation. Most users probably want this behavior.

On a lenny system, if python is not installed, the 'initializing
plugins' phase of package configuration terminates with:

# Got junk from smart_: /usr/bin/env: python: No such file or directory
failed.

Either the plugin configuration script should be smart enough to
not fail on plugins for which the interpreter is missing (allowing all
other plugin configuration to succeed), or the package itself should at
least move python from Suggests: to Recommends: as it is expected for
use in most installations of munin-node.

Thanks for packaging munin-node for debian!
