Can you still reproduce this issue? If so, please reply so that we may

Bug#551303: padsp: libpulsedsp.so cannot be loaded by ld.so

2012-03-11 Thread Dick William Thomas
Package: pulseaudio-utils
Version: 1.1-3
Followup-For: Bug #551303

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
tried running a game (not part of debian) with $ padsp ./survivor-bin
and got the output
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pulseaudio/libpulsedsp.so' from
LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:996:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:996:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:996:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
AL lib: alsa.c:344: Could not open playback device 'default': No such file or
directory
AL lib: oss.c:179: Could not open /dev/dsp: No such file or directory

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
tried adding user to audio and running from root but didn't work

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
expected padsp to be a wrapper so the game would use /dev/dsp even though I use
pulseaudio

I tried this with launch vmware workstation 6.5 (which only supports OSS) and
audacity with padsp.
