Bug#565722: [tex-k] segfault in libkpathsea (from TL2007)
On Mo, 18 Jan 2010, l...@sfo.com wrote: I'm sorry, I'm not sure where these map files are--I could look. Me neither. It's working again. I deleted the '/usr/share/texmf-texlive/ls-R' file, and removed all the fonts and put them in my home directory, and reran texhash. Then I ran my very simple one-line case and when it gave a 'font missing' message, I added the directory back that contained the missing font file. It generated a simple, one-line .dvi and .pdf file, and xdvi and xpdf also worked. I didn't change any maps, but maybe they're being regenerated by this process. I sincerely do not understand what you are doing. You might get first accustomed to what it means to install a font into a tex system. It is not simply copying the files there, because the programs will not find them. How did you add the .map files to the updmap.cfg file? By hand editing? We may have edited it by hand over a month ago. It was working until yesterday. ??? You didn't change anything and suddently it stopped working? Please, all you are describing is so chaotic that it is practically impossible to give you any advice ... Bug#565722: [tex-k] segfault in libkpathsea (from TL2007)
Hi Linda, I think we can take Karl off the cc, since it has nothing to do with TeX Live anymore, the bug has been fixed there since long, and it is only the stable debian packages that are lacking behind. On Mo, 18 Jan 2010, l...@sfo.com wrote: Thank you for your response. Yes, I reported the bug (565722) just after emailing you. Ok, so that is the same. Is there a mailing list that I can join in case a fix becomes available, so I will be notified? If you reported the bug 565722 and I am keeping that bug in Cc all the time you will see what happens, and if I upload new packages you will get informed that the bug has been closed. I moved some fonts into a folder where I hope latex wouldn't find them, but it's still crashing. I haven't updated '/var/lib/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg for over a month, so I don't know if that's a problem. Only moving the fonts is not enough. The problem is that the list of fonts in psfonts.map, which is generated from updmap.cfg, is too long. Did you remove the .map files, too (better, moved it out of the trees)? How did you add the .map files to the updmap.cfg file? By hand editing?
