Okay, I think I have a better fix for the xmgrace cursor problem. I'll upload
1:5.1.22-4 to unstable shortly, so please try it on testing as well (it should
appear on incoming.debian.org within hours, and packages.debian.org in about a
 day). Thanks for your patience.

I've just tested it: grace/1:5.1.22-4 seems to really fix the bug!

Thanks a lot for investigating the issue and for fixing it.
Bye.

Bug#567323: not fixed yet

2010-03-01 Thread Stanisław Baran
5.1.22-3 works as expected on my system (following the steps in the
original
bug report works perfectly, no trapped cursor), which is making it very
difficult for me to test any further fixes!

What version of xserver-xorg-core do you have installed?

I had problems while using xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.4-2. After
downgrading to 2:1.4.2-10.lenny2 (current package from stable release)
grace works again.

Hi Nicholas,
first of all, thanks for following up on this issue.

The fact that you are unable to reproduce the bug is very unfortunate.
I suppose you are running unstable: did you have a chance to try on a
Debian testing box (or chroot)?

What version of xserver-xorg-core do you have installed?

$ dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-core | cut -c 1-60

After sending my reply, I upgraded my box and noticed that a new
version of xserver-xorg-core has just migrated from unstable to testing
(along with a new version of libc6, among other things).

I performed the upgrade, exited from X, restarted everything that was
pointed out by checkrestart, started a new X session and retested grace.

Unfortunately, I am still able to reproduce the bug! :-(

Now:

$ dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-core | cut -c 1-60
ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.5-1

Updated system information is copied below (the only part that is
changed is libc6 version).

Bug#567323: not fixed yet

2010-02-22 Thread Stanisław Baran
I found that grace versions: 1:5.1.22-1, 1:5.1.22-2 and 1:5.1.22-3 are
effected by this bug. That is why it is rather due to recent upgrades of
some libraries than to grace itself.

 I run Debian testing (squeeze).

Solution: downgrading xserver to that from Debian stable release fixes
 the problem.

This bug is definitely related to the xserver. I found an interesting
discussion in Red Hat Bugzilla:
